A Father’s Place (AFP) is a community-based non-profit designed to strengthen families through father engagement. AFP focuses on helping fathers overcome barriers to being a responsible and involved father with the goal of improving the lives of low-income children by helping parents support them financially and emotionally. AFP is the only fatherhood program in Georgetown, Horry and Williamsburg counties providing comprehensive assessment and intervention services to low-income fathers ages 18 and over. Three locations, one in Conway, one in Myrtle Beach, and one in Georgetown, offer programs focused on four main themes: increasing self-awareness, cooperative parenting skills, father engagement, and financial support of their children. AFP benefits the lives of at-risk children and strengthens the community by increasing the number of fathers who are actively and consistently engaged in the emotional and material support of their children.
