Harold C. Stowe, who served as Waccamaw Community Foundation chairman from 2009-2011, has been named an Honorary Founder of Coastal Carolina University.
As part of CCU’s annual Founder’s Day Convocation, which took place on Sept. 23 at Wheelwright Auditorium, Stowe and the late Gen. James F. Hackler Jr. were recognized
for their contributions to the advancement of the university and the success of its past, current and future students.
According to the CCU Website, Honorary Founders must have:
- Been instrumental in the development of a Coastal Carolina College or Coastal Carolina University.
- Reflected the ideals of the original founders.
- Contributed time, talent or resources to the enhancement of the institution.
- Demonstrated over time an exemplary commitment to the university.
Show a passion for service to the institution.
Stowe served as the interim dean of the E. Craig Wall Sr. College of Business Administration from 2006 to 2007, and currently serves as the chairman of the Wall Fellows Board of Advisers. He is also a longtime member of the Wall College Board of Visitors and is actively involved with many local nonprofits.
