The Waccamaw Community Foundation family extends our thoughts and prayers to all those affected by recent storms and flooding across the state of South Carolina.
We continue to be amazed at how our community comes together to support each other during this time of crisis. So, we wanted to share some of the ways that you can help in this time of need:
- Donate to Coastal Community Foundation’s Disaster Relief Fund: As an affiliate foundation of CCF, the Waccamaw community (Georgetown and Horry Counties) can benefit from this fund. 100% of all contributions will help nonprofits working on the ground in affected counties of CCF’s service area. Visit their donation page to contribute today.
- Donate to other agencies: Lowcountry Food Bank (843-747-8146) is accepting food donations, Catholic Charities (843-377-1357) is accepting cash donations, and the Salvation Army (843-488-2769) is accepting cash, clothes and furniture.
- Volunteer: The Red Cross’s Eastern S.C. Chapter serves Horry County, while the Lowcountry chapter works with Georgetown County. Serving not just now, but in the future, will help in future times of need.
- Stay safe: Be aware of road conditions by checking out local road closures and staying alert to flood and weather updates. Also look out for evacuations in your community (Georgetown and Horry).
